Subscription site builders and AI site generators are real options. Here's how they actually compare on the specs that decide whether a small business site ranks and converts.
Squarespace, Wix, and Lovable all keep your site on their platform. If you stop paying, the site goes with them. My clients get the source files — host anywhere, keep everything, walk away any month with the work intact.
Squarespace and Wix start from a template. Lovable and similar AI builders start from a prompt — different limit, same problem: the layout decisions are pre-baked. A custom build is designed around your actual brand and market.
Page builders and AI-generated sites ship a lot of JavaScript and inconsistent HTML. Core Web Vitals and SEO-rendered HTML matter for ranking. A hand-coded site is lean by default — that's the gap that compounds over months on Google.

Pricing reflects publicly listed plans as of 2026 and may change. Lighthouse scores are typical ranges based on PageSpeed Insights audits of small-business sites on each platform.
I start at $2,000 flat for a custom build — one-time, no hourly billing. Most service-business sites finish at the $2,000 starting price. If you need extra functionality (custom portals, large gallery infrastructure, multilingual setup), I quote that up front so there are no surprises.
Yes. Every monthly plan is month-to-month. No contracts, no minimum term. If you cancel, you keep the website — you own the files outright and can host them anywhere.
Website Hosting & Maintenance includes 1–2 hours of edits per month. Additional edits beyond that bill at $30/hr. Most months you'll never touch the cap — small text/photo swaps and one or two updates is typical.
Most agencies charge $5,000–$15,000 for a custom site because they have an office, an account team, a sales rep, and a designer who hands work off to a developer. I'm one person working from home in Auburn. The $2,000 is the actual cost of the work when you remove the agency overhead.
Perfect. I'll point the existing domain to the new site at launch and walk you through any DNS changes. You keep ownership of the domain — I don't take registrar control of anything you already own.
No. The build is a one-time fee. The monthly plans are all month-to-month. You can change plans, pause, or cancel any month with no penalty.
Tell me which plan you're interested in or ask any questions. I respond within one business day — usually sooner.
